Description

A customer who does not need a service for a month has one option in Paymenter, and that is to cancel it. When they come back they order again on a new service, and the history goes with the old one.

Service Pausing puts a step in between. The expiry date moves along with today for as long as a service is paused, so paid time is not spent while the service is off, and the customer picks it back up where they left it.

What it does

  • Paid time is kept: the expiry date shifts with today while a service is paused, so nothing expires during the pause.
  • Five limits against misuse: days per pause, days per year, number of pauses per year, minimum age of the service, and no outstanding invoice.
  • The server is suspended the same way as for an unpaid invoice. Nothing is deleted and the files stay where they are.
  • Twenty-eight settings, so the limits and the wording match how you run your own billing.
  • Admin overview: Pause → Paused services, with three permissions for view, update and delete.
  • Runs on cron: pausing:process every hour, which resumes services when their pause runs out.
  • One theme change: two edits to themes/default/views/services/show.blade.php put the button on the service page, covered step by step in the documentation.
